Petrophysics Laboratory, belonging to the Institute of Economic Geology / Geosciences Institute (CSIC-UCM), has over 15 years of history. In April 2008, a Quality Management System under the UNE-EN-ISO 9001:2008 in the work system was implemented, and the AENOR certification was obtained (Certificate Number: ES-0346/2008). On March 25, 2011, the renewal of such certificate under the UNE-EN-ISO 9001:2008 was granted, and the scope of the trials was broadened (Registration Number: ES-0346/2008).

The Laboratory offers advanced systems and equipment mainly approached to the study of the physical properties and behavior of the stone materials against decay process. The studies carried out are chiefly focused on the conservation of geological materials used in the built heritage, always under the supervision of trained personnel.

The Petrophysics Laboratory of the Institute of Economic Geology / Geosciences Institute (CSIC-UCM), has the AENOR Quality Certificate for its Quality Management System according to ISO 9001:2008.

The scope of this certification covers the major test techniques used for petrophysical characterization of stone materials.

On April 3, 2008, the Certificate of Quality ISO 9001 was delivered to the Petrophysics Laboratory of the Institute of Economic Geology / Geosciences Institute (CSIC-UCM), by holding an official act in which the certificate was given to Rafael Fort González, Director of the Institute.

The Petrophysics  Laboratory is integrated into the Laboratory Network of the Region of Madrid (RedLab No. 217). The laboratory is one of the few that carries out tests on rock materials and the only one specifically directed towards the built heritage conservation.
